The Chevening Scholarship is the UK government's flagship international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). It offers fully funded one-year Master's degrees at UK universities to outstanding emerging leaders from around the world β including Pakistan, which is consistently one of Chevening's top five applicant countries.
Pakistan receives roughly 30-40 Chevening awards every year out of thousands of applications. The competition is intense, but Pakistan has a strong, active Chevening Alumni Association that supports applicants throughout the process.
Most UK universities under Chevening require a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no individual band below 5.5. If your undergraduate degree was taught entirely in English at a Pakistani university, some universities accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) Certificate instead of IELTS β always confirm this directly with your chosen university.
Applications typically open in August and close in early November each year. The selection process β including interviews at the British High Commission β continues through the following spring, with results announced around June.
Visit the official Chevening website, select Pakistan as your country, and create an account on the online application portal. Always verify every detail β deadlines, eligibility, and required documents β on the official Chevening website before applying.
