Open to non-UK citizens only. Approximately 80 scholarships awarded annually worldwide (about 55 in the International round for non-US applicants, 25 reserved for US citizens). About two-thirds of awards go to PhD applicants. No age limit and no minimum work experience required, unlike Australia Awards or Commonwealth Scholarship. Must be admitted to a full-time postgraduate course at Cambridge (Masters, PhD, or one-year postgraduate course) - undergraduate degrees and short courses are excluded. Deferrals are generally not allowed - if you cannot take up the award in the offered year, you must reapply. Selection is highly competitive, based on academic excellence, leadership potential, and demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of others.
Full Cambridge University Composition Fee and college fees, discretionary maintenance allowance (stipend) at the standard UK Research Council rate, one economy return airfare per year, UK Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) covered for NHS access, additional funding available for eligible dependants and academic development.
