STRICT FIELD RESTRICTION: Only open to research in Engineering, Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Science, and Music (within the School of Music specifically, not general Arts) - NOT open to Business, Law, Education, IT, or general Arts/Humanities. Research must be framed around environmental responsibility AND social benefit - this is strictly scrutinized by the selection committee, not just a formality. Extremely limited number of awards (historically as few as one per cycle at some points) - highly competitive. No separate application needed - automatically considered when applying for a Monash graduate research degree, but new applicants need an invitation to apply from the relevant faculty first, requiring an identified supervisor before formal application.
